Brushless motors

Machines for brushless motors testing

Brushless motors are synchronous direct current (DC) electric motors, with a permanent magnet rotor. They use an electronic controller to switch DC currents to the motor windings. In this way they produce magnetic fields which effectively rotate in space and which the permanent magnet rotor follows. The controller adjusts the phase and amplitude of the DC current pulses to control the speed and torque of the motor.

The advantages of a brushless motor over brushed motors are:

  • high power-to-weight ratio
  • high speed
  • nearly instantaneous control of speed (rpm) and torque
  • high efficiency
  • low maintenance.

Because of all these advantages, brushless DC motors are often used in modern devices where low noise and low heat are required. In fact they are mostly used in devices that run continuously. For example computer peripherals (disk drives, printers), hand-held power tools, and more vehicles ranging (from aircraft to automotive).

For precise and strict checks it is fundamental to use experienced partners, therefore Risatti it’s the best partner. Risatti offers perfect customization of the tool for testing brushless motors in order to meet its Customers’ requirements. The common feature is always the special care that goes into their construction, to make them suitable for very stressful uses and in an industrial setting with the possibility to be connected to centralized IT systems.

The machines for testing brushless motors can carry out all the tests required for this type of motor and can be adapted both to automatic lines and to individual manual tests, with and without brakes, and are available with an interchangeable fastening system for the various types.

Our machines

We offer a wide range of machines for heads and tests for different sectors of use.

The tests

The equipment, exclusively designed and manufactured by us, embraces the entire electromechanical and electrotechnical sector and the sectors related to preventive maintenance, repairs and rewinding.
Residual voltage test is used to detect the presence of residual voltage in a system, after the main source of power is disconnected.
The AC dielectric strength test is performed by setting an acceptability threshold of the maximum current.
Testing the electrical resistance of a winding is essential and is performed to measure the resistance of a winding.
The BEMF (back EMF) test measures the induced voltage generated between the terminals of the motor rotated by external drive.
